Tucked into the heart of Dallas’ Harwood District, Hôtel Swexan is more than just a luxury destination. It’s a story of heritage, design, and cultural fusion. Owned by Harwood Hospitality Group, the hotel blends the warmth and charm of Texas with refined European sophistication, a nod to the founders’ Swiss-Texan roots. The name itself, Swexan, reflects this dual spirit: Swiss hospitality meets Texan charm.
RSM Design had the opportunity to collaborate closely with Harwood Hospitality Group, crafting a signage and wayfinding experience that reflects the hotel’s unique identity. Designed by the internationally acclaimed architect Kengo Kuma, the building’s sleek, reflective architecture sets the tone for what lies within. The interiors take cues from global cities and elegantly balance the timeless with the modern.
This blend of influences guided our work throughout the hotel’s restaurants, bars, and amenity spaces. One of our favorite moments was bringing Babou’s to life, a speakeasy bar tucked inside the hotel. There, a custom light fixture became a playful centerpiece, inspired by the surreal energy of Salvador Dalí and his eccentric pet ocelot, Babou. Just like the hotel itself, the result is unexpected, artful, and distinctly memorable.
Hôtel Swexan proudly holds a Michelin Key, placing it among only 20 distinguished hotels in Texas to receive this prestigious recognition, a testament to the exceptional hospitality and elevated experience that define every stay.
