Located at the heart of UC San Diego campus, the Epstein Family Amphitheater is more than a performance venue: it’s a cultural gateway and a central core to the university. Designed as a dynamic hub for live music, theater, dance, and public gatherings, the amphitheater anchors the campus with a bold architectural statement that reflects the university’s forward-thinking spirit.

RSM Design created a visual identity and wayfinding system rooted in simplicity, one that feels at home in both daylight and evening hours. The clean, understated typography allows the space to remain flexible and open to a wide range of events, from student performances to large-scale community gatherings. The design approach embraces minimal letterforms, strategic lighting integration, and materials that interact with changing daylight and performance activity. The result is a signage system that elevates the visitor experience while honoring the artistic and academic innovation that is UC San Diego.
