At the heart of the community

Along the Missouri River, where Omaha's heart meets the water, a transformation has taken root. The RiverFront weaves together three cherished parks—Gene Leahy Mall, Heartland of America Park, and Lewis and Clark Landing—across 200 acres of possibility. What was once a collection of separate green spaces has become a unified destination where the city reconnects with its riverfront heritage. Children race through play areas while skaters carve the ribbon, families stroll with their dogs past sculpture gardens, and the downtown core pulses with renewed energy. This is the vision Mayor Jean Stothert called "one of the most significant projects in Omaha's history"—a reflection of the community's generosity and faith in what comes next.

RSM Design created a wayfinding system that guides this story, helping visitors navigate the expansive riverfront while honoring the distinct character of each park. Their signature curved signage—inspired by The RiverFront's logo and downtown's late modern architecture—appears in warm metals accented with blues and greens that echo the river itself. Directional signs lead people from the Bocce Terrace to Discovery Playground, from the Urban Beach volleyball courts to the Skate Ribbon, identifying sports and activities throughout the parks with clarity and style. Integrated donor recognition walls pay tribute to the generous individuals who made this transformation possible, ensuring their legacy becomes part of the park's permanent narrative. The result is more than wayfinding—it's a system that connects people to place, celebrates community, and invites everyone who arrives to become part of Omaha's riverfront revival.
